“RubsCULpTURE” is a project about creating sculptures of waste material picked up from the ground in the landscape, and hike in the light of the sun rays low on the horizon with the sculpture balancing on the head.

«Balanse – SøpsKULpTUR» – «Balance – RUBsCULpTURE»

Hva ? : en skulptur og vandring performance
Hvor ? : Flørli i Lysefjord

«Balance – RUBsCULpTURE»

What ? : a sculpture and hiking performance
Where ? : Flørli in the Lysefjord

The artist Agnes Btffn works with shaping sculptures out of materials (rubbish) picked up from the ground from under the moss ang the stones, around the Flørli village. The sculptures are shaped so they can be balanced on the head, and walk in the light of the sun when horizon and sun meet, late in the afternoon.

Oui, la récupération est un art
Qui ouvre les portes de l’Histoire.

  n Flørli i Lysefjord,
WORKSHOP, Mai 06-08  i anledning Hold-Norge-rent dagen.

Emnet:

WORKSHOP, Mai 06-08 2016 on the Keep-Norway-clean day.

The subject:

– Pick garbage from the landscape:  until 1999, Flørli was a water power industrial community. The processing of the garbage consisted in digging a hole to tip the it into. Like in other isolated places at that time, dealing with waste was not always very precise and today, waste particles can be found around the place popping up between moss and stones. This material is of historical value. Through the garbage, one can dive in the history. The material pops up at the surface of the ground, pushed up by the ice. Mackerel cans from a canning factory shut down in 1984 can be found…
– Shape a sculpture from chosen waste material so it can to be balanced on the head. The person balancing the sculpture becomes the base for the sculpture.
– Walk in the landscape, a sculpture balancing on the head, in the light of the low sun ray on the border of the horizon.

What is found in Flørli ?
Around some houses in Flørli, the earth rejects the rubbish from years of living and working on the site. I pick some of the material, well tangled in between leaves, earth and stones, look at it, and imagine what ever stories it inspires me to tell.

“SøpsKulptur” or “RubsCulpture” ‘s creation are inspired of nature and this bird’s nest among other creations from nature. Only one material in contact with the builder, provides a special and unique shape. The bird uses one type of grass which he weaves around a branch to make a shape, in this case a nest.
To create SubsCulture, I use material which has been thrown away and picked from the ground. These sculptures are shaped so they can be balanced on the head.
